The PowerPort Solar Charger and Battery has been designed to harness the sun’s energy, shortening the process of transforming it into electricity by using photovoltaic cells (PVs). PVs convert sunlight into electricity that can be used immediately. The process is clean, fast, noiseless, and – thanks to Lenmar – easily portable. Here’s how it works. Light from the sun hits the solar cells. exciting electrons within the cell. Some of them break free, and channeled through a conductive metal strip to create an electric current. This current can either be stored in a battery or used directly in the form of electricity. The stronger the sunlight and the more rays that hit the cell, the more electricity is generated. Lenmar’s PowerPort Solar is a portable Lithium-ion battery that can be recharged from any USB port or directly from the Sun. Recharge your cell phone, PDA, media player and other portable devices or gadgets ANYWHERE. The PowerPort Solar is another performance product powered by Lenmar, makers of innovative chargers, batteries and accessories for digital cameras camcorders, laptops, cellular and cordless phones iPods, iPhones, PDAs, MP3 players and other portable electronic devices.

Best Portable Charger for iPhone,
I purchased this recently and have been extremely pleased with it’s performance. This is the fourth portable charging product I have purchased for my iPhone 3GS and it is easily the best. You can charge it in your car, from an AC outlet, from your computer via USB, or via the sun. When fully charged, it has enough power to completely charge your iPhone. The back has a strong magnet so you can attach it to your car or other metal object while it is solar charging. Four blue LED indicators tell how much battery power is remaining and a 3-LED flashlight is built-in. It comes with a large number of connectors for a variety of other devices which I have not tested. However, if your device comes with a USB charger connector you can use it with this device. This is a well made and well designed product in my opinion.

|A very flexable item.,
The Kiwi U-Powered Solar & USB Portable Charger is the first device of this type that I have owned. I would like to say that, as opposed to one of the previous comments, this device does have a charger for LG phones. I recharged my LG Voyager with it.
What I like:
It can recharge many devices without access to a PC or a power outlet. (obviously)
It has the capacity to fully recharge most portable devices.
It has a standard USB port.
It has four options to recharge it’s battery. Solar, wall plug, car lighter and USB port.
It comes with a nice bag to carry everything in.
What I don’t like:
Variety comes with a downside. Lots of little pieces that can be lost. Luckily those pieces have their own little bag.
The solar panels look weird, like stickers, and not quite centered.
It takes a LONG time to recharge this things internal battery.
It doesn’t have a Zune adapter.(*keep reading!*)
The LG adapter fit pretty tight into my phone.
I purchased this to recharge a few different items this summer when camping. I was a bit disappointed that it didn’t have an adapter for the Zune. But, as with most portable devices nowadays, my Zune came with a USB cable/adapter. Having a USB charging port on this device is a HUGE plus! Because it can recharge many other devices using the custom USB cables that come with them. I’m also disappointed with the amount of time it takes to recharge the internal battery, which is used to recharge your various devices. I knew that recharging it with the solar panels would take a while, but even recharging it in a wall plug took a long time. I topped off the charge from approximately a 50% charge via a wall plug the other day, and it took three hours to take the full charge. The LED light is nothing to write home about. Being a flashlight fanatic, I have a high standard for portable illumination. Three standard 5mm LEDs, provide a limited amount of usable light at short range.
Overall I’m happy with this solar charger, and I recommend this product.

|Gift it or keep it for yourself.,
I bought this as a gift for my brother in law who has everything. He didn’t have this and he love’s it. Not only can you charge things with solar but the lithium battery will store and hold a charge for six months. It has so many attachments you get the solar unit, a car charger, a wall charger etc etc etc. Your cell phone (or ???) will never go dead again – day or shine. I (and he) loved it so much I bought a second unit for my nephew who left for college – he thinks its cool and promises his parents he will keep his phone charged from now on (we’ll see if that happens – it’s up to the user – lol). This unit is small and compact about the size of a second cell phone. Quick shipping too.

|Best for emergencies or outdoors people,
This product would be good for people who spend lots of time outdoors, and can’t readily use a car or wall charger for their devices. Backpackers, fishermen, etc, would probably like this. Or if you want emergency power. Otherwise, you’re probably better off going with something else. As the packaging states, it’s “Emergency Cell Phone Power”.
The product takes forever to charge – a one hour charge gives you just enough to make a 5-10 minute phone call. It takes something like 8-10 hours to get a full charge.
The biggest drawback for me is that the unit can only be charged up to 500 times. This would equate to just over a year if you used it everyday. You can’t really go green with this thing, since you’d have to replace it every 12-18 months.
On the plus side, it is solar powered, and comes with lots of different tips for devices. It’s also cheaper than a other brands that I’ve seen.
OK for emergencies, but not everyday use. Maybe the next generation product can charge faster, and have a longer battery life.

|Adequate,
The Lenmar PPUS20 is a decent product. It seems to charge a little faster than my Solio even tho it has an indicator LED that stays on all the time during charging in order to let you know it is catching the sun ; which of course is a waste of power.
I had no problem getting the thing to fully charge in the sun, and it worked great with my cellphone , however, it ruined one of my camera batteries by overcharging it.
I am satisfied with this product. It kept my cellphone charged all summer while I hiked the appalachian trail, but there are better products out there that won’t ruin cameras or overcharge batteries which are just as efficient and are in the same general price range.
I would NOT buy another one of these if this one stopped functioning , I would try a different one.

|Totally Useless Product,
I bought this a month back and tried using it many times but it just doesn’t work. After a full day under the sun, I managed to charge my phone for 15 seconds. I tried leaving under the sun for a few days on my dashboard, and it still charges my phone for 15 seconds and switched itself off. Tried this 6 times till now, doesn’t get to change a single mobile phone at all!! I don’t know why Amazon is selling this kind of inferior product. Don’t buy this item. You are better of using other electrical chargers.
